MEDICAL GRADE PEELS

What is a chemical peel and what can it treat?

This is a term used to describe any procedure where a chemical peeling agent, usually a fruit-based acid, is applied to the skin to correct concerns. Depending on the peeling solution used it will reduce pigmentation or brown spots, decongest, hydrate, remove dead skin cells or stimulate collagen production.

What will I look like after a chemical peeling procedure?

The effect on the skin will vary depending upon the peeling agent chosen, the concentration of that agent and the number of layers applied to the skin during treatment. The skin may appear slightly flushed with a lighter peel, however this will settle within 24 hours and there will be no flaking or peeling. With heavier chemical peels the skin may appear pink for longer, areas of pigmentation may appear darker until the flake off and fade, also the skin will flake for a few days after treatment.

How do I know which peel is the best for my skin?

Your Dermal Therapist will discuss your concerns, test your skin sensitivity and ask if you have any pressing social engagements coming up. The correct peeling agent will be chosen by your therapist depending on your concerns and whether you can afford to have flaking skin.

How many treatments do I need to see results?

For optimum skin health, we recommend regular chemical peels as part of your skincare routine. The majority of people will benefit from light peels every 4 weeks. Heavier peels can also be performed every 4 weeks for a few treatments until concerns are softened or resolved. Lighter maintenance peels are recommended after this.

Medical peels accelerate exfoliation induced by chemical peeling agents. This improves the clinical appearance of fine lines, pigmentation and skin texture is improved. Allow 3 -4 days down time. $350
